A Good Move at the Opening
At the opening, a good move is located somewhere between the worst and the best locations on the board. The worst are at the four cornners (at A, B, C, or D), as they have only two liberties each, marked ✕ in the diagram. The best is farthest away from the corner, or at E. A good move is at any point between the corner points and Tengen, or on the third line—the line with most Star Points.

Principle:
At the opening, take any point you like on the thrid line, and you will make a good move.
